Shinwen Chung, 林馨文女士 Artistic Director and Conductor Ms. Chung has a distinguished career in music as a conductor, educator, and soprano. She has a Bachelors degree in Music from Tunghai University, Taiwan, and a Masters in Music from Oklahoma City University. Ms. Chung has participated in many leading roles in numerous operas in Oklahoma City. She conducted the Tunghai University Choir, leading the choir to perform in many concert halls including National Hall, Taichung Recital Hall and Radio Center, and won several national awards in Taiwan. Currently, Ms. Chung is the founder, music director, and conductor of the Women's Choir in Northern New Jersey, where she serves as music clinician and adjudicator. She is also the Vice President of the American-Asian Fine Arts Association and a member of the Board of Directors for The National League of Performing Arts, Inc. She is also an active member of the American Choral Director Association (ACDA), Music Educator National Conference (MENC), the New Jersey Music Educator Association (NJMEA), and New Jersey Music Teachers Association (NJMTA). Ms. Chung also maintains an active private piano and voice studio. She is the recipient of the Genia Robinor Pedagogy Award of Teaching Excellence and the Laura Conover Pedagogy Award for Outstanding Teaching from the Cecilian Music Club. Her piano students have won prizes in state competitions and performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Merkin Hall. Her voice students have auditioned successfully into the ACDA All-National Mixed Choir, ACDA All-Eastern Honor Choir, and ACDA New Jersey Junior High and Elementary Honor Choir. Ms. Chung has conducted the Hwa-Yin Youth Chorale since 2002. The choir has performed at many charity events, reached out to local communities, and participated in nationwide competitions and international music festivals.
Accompanist: Miss Lisha Duan has been playing piano for over 10 years. She is currently a sophomore at Livingston High School and has attended Hwa-Yin for 3 years. Lisha has placed in the top three numerous times in the Music Educator Association competition for piano. Additionally, she has received high honor and honor in the New Jersey Music Teacher's Association audition for 6 years. Lisha has been accepted into Region 1 Women's Choir twice, All-States twice, and the 2007 ACDA National Treble Children's Choir. Miss Erica Lee has been playing the piano for about 10 years and has been a Hwa-Yin Chorale accompanist for three years. She is currently a freshman at Kent Place School in Summit. Erica has placed in the top three numerous times in the Music Educator Association competition for piano. She is also part of the New Jersey Music Teacher's Association and has received honors and high honors for 7 years. Erica has also attended the Chinese American Fine Art Competition in where she has won and performed at Carnegie Hall, New York City for five consecutive years. Besides piano, Erica enjoys playing tennis and softball, singing, drawing, and traveling the world.Mr. Peter Chia currently attends Morris Knolls High School as a junior. He has played piano for 8 years and has placed in the top 3 several times at the Music Educators’ Association competitions for solos, duets, and duos. In addition, he received 7 years of honors and high honors at the New Jersey Music Teachers’ Association auditions. Peter has also performed at Carnegie Hall multiple times. Aside from piano, Peter enjoys playing the cello; he has played for 10 years. Furthermore, he plays the guitar as a hobby and sometimes leads the worship at CCCNJ on Friday nights. Peter participates in several school clubs and enjoys playing basketball, tennis, and swimming. |
